Donations: Gifts may be made by check, money order, credit card or online. Checks and money orders should be made payable to the DC Youth Orchestra Program; we accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover credit cards. You may call us to make a credit card donation or forward check/money order by mail.

Stock and Securities: Gifts of highly appreciated securities held long-term may offer you significant tax benefits if they are transferred to the program before they are sold. You may deduct the full value of the securities, subject to certain limitations, without having to pay tax on the appreciation. If you are considering using securities that have depreciated in value since purchase, it will, in most cases, be more advantageous to sell the stock and give the proceeds to the Program. Please speak to your financial advisor about gifts of stock and securities
Planned Giving: A planned gift - either alone or in combination with an outright gift - can dramatically increase your giving potential, while retaining important benefits for you or your loved ones. Because these gifts are legal and financial commitments, the Program recommends consulting with a legal or financial advisor as you plan.

In-Kind Donations: Gifts-in-kind include gifts of tangible property such as equipment, furniture, music, books and instruments, that can be used for teaching, outreach or in other ways that support the core mission of the Program. We are pleased to accept gifts-in-kind as approved by the Board Committee. All gifts are acknowledged with a descriptive receipt issued by the Program along with the IRS form 8283, as necessary. It is the donor's responsibility to determine the value of the gift for charitable purposes. Please contact our offices for questions regarding in-kind donations or about items in need.
Memorial Gifts/Honorarium: Any gift to any fund may be designated in honor or in memory of a member of the DCYOP community, or of another person of your choosing. We will gladly forward a letter or note to a third party regarding your donation if desired.
The Program has established a Memorial Scholarship Fund, a permanently endowed scholarship, to provide a way for any member of the DCYOP to be commemorated in perpetuity. The income from this fund will provide financial support for a student, usually of similar instrument and/or chair as the student being remembered. If you are interested in contributing in this manner, please contact our offices.
Endowment: Although the DC Youth Orchestra does not currently have funds specifically set aside as an endowment of the organization. Any individual wishing to grant such a gift may contact our offices directly at 202-723-1612.
Volunteer: The DC Youth Orchestra Program maintains a number of volunteer opportunities for those who would like to donate time to the organization. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the attached application and forward to our mailing address or fax 202-723-6040. It is because of the dedication and hard work of so many volunteers that the DC Youth Orchestra Program exists today.
DCYOP at your event: The DC Youth Orchestra Program maintains a number of chamber groups and string chamber ensembles. These ensembles are available to play at your corporate or business event, in exchange for a donation to the program. Please contact our offices at 202-723-1612 to schedule a group for your event.
