International Tour
Tour is a transformational experience for our advanced DCYOP Students
Touring is a deeply ingrained tradition at DCYOP, dating back to our earliest years.
In the last 65 years, DCYOP has toured 14 countries including Japan, Italy, Switzerland, Chile, Colombia, South Africa and Spain.
68 students recently completed a tour to South Africa in July 2026, where they played in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Pilanesberg, Soweto, and Cape Town.
Our next tour will be held in 2028. Watch for more details.

Why should my child go on tour with DCYOP?
The international tour experience is the highlight of any young orchestral musician’s youth orchestra career. Life-long friendships and memories are made while sharing the gift of music with international audiences. For some students, it can be a life-changing experience that determines the course of their professional careers. For all students, it’s an opportunity to grow and expand their horizons through the fun yet rigorous process of traveling, rehearsing and performing in a new country.
When is the next tour & can parents/families go?
The next tour will be the summer of 2028. Details are not final yet, but we will post them here when we know.
When we can, and there is interest, we arrange a “shadow” tour for DCYOP families and supporters that essentially follows the Youth Orchestra’s itinerary with other activities and opportunities for times when the students will be occupied in rehearsals, etc.
Do students have to audition to go on tour?
Students who are enrolled in DCYOP’s Youth Orchestra ensemble do not have to audition. Student-musicians who are not enrolled may audition for a slot on the tour, based on space availability.
